Good Stuff in The News

I was asked by Melinda Davenport (thanks Melinda!) to weigh in on the upward trend in Facebook phishing scams.  Pretty Great!  I had a good time, was able to share some information that I think will be helpful to people, and had an opportunity to talk a little bit about the importance of protecting your online…Continue Reading

Protect Your Identity Online

The recent Ad Age report which estimates that Facebook is expected to book $1.86 Billion in Ad Revenue shows us that Facebook is becoming a major competitor to Google when it comes to advertising, and also can serve as a reminder that we need to protect ourselves and our identities online from scams – those scams…Continue Reading

The Spiritual Side of Business

“There’s a spiritual aspect to business, just as there is to the lives of individuals. You give, you receive; you help others, you’re helped in return.” – Jerry Greenfield (of Ben & Jerry’s Fame) I think that Ben was on to something.  I have been thinking about where “sustainable” businesses are headed, the fact that…Continue Reading

The New – Refreshing Your Image

I am psyched about refreshing the overall image that I have just completed on this site. I do always think that a new year is an opportunity for renewal and new opportunities, and this year I chose to tackle the site design as part of that renewal process. And what can we refresh and renew if not our image? We are all constantly refining, refreshing, and renewing our image as we grow older. That’s just part of life. Brainstorming That Actually Works!

I learned a pretty interesting brainstorming technique at the Net Impact conference that I thought was worth sharing.  The tool is part of IDEO’s “Human Centered Design” toolkit, available for free here:  IDEO Toolkit.  On a side note, IDEO rocks. <br> There are seven rules to the brainstorm: Defer judgment – There are no bad ideas…Continue Reading

Net Impact 2010 Conference Kick-Off!

The Net Impact 2010 Conference Kickoff keynote was fantastic.  The Ross School of Business is a beautiful setting, and the discussion filled the wonderful space appropriately. The title of the talk was “Corporate Responsibility 2020: The Future of Sustainable Business,” and I feel that the panel was designed and moderated in a way that gave…Continue Reading

Changing the World – One Connection at a Time

I am currently in Ann Arbor for the Net Impact 2010 Conference – and I am psyched. The reason we are all here? To change the world through business. Sounds like something I want to be a part of. You? Another reason I am psyched is that the conference planning team has taken some steps…Continue Reading

Don’t Forget the Peeps!

That’s right – don’t forget the peeps.  Not the nasty yellow and blue sugary peeps you can find in March, but the peeps in your organization.  One of the things that is most often overlooked when a business is considering using social media tools for the first time is the significant organizational change that may…Continue Reading
